IMI offers a full range of programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level in Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism, European Culinary and Event Management and Hospitality Entrepreneurship.
IMI University Centre received UK accreditation from the British Accreditation Council in spring 2009. This means that our programmes are under constant review to ensure that they meet the highest educational and industry standards. Our range of programmes are validated by our partner school Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK. So when you graduate from IMI you receive two qualifications.
IMI is a unique, private Swiss hotel school, the only 100 percent Swiss owned and managed Swiss hotel school left in Central Switzerland. We have deliberately remained small, with a maximum of 220 students per semester. This way all students can be assured of highly personalised and individual support in their learning. Through our highly qualified staff, small class sizes and intensive courses, IMI allows you to go from Certificate to BA honours in only two and a half years including one paid practical training. The University’s faculty comprises a truly international staff from countries such as the UK, Germany, France, Finland, Indonesia, Korea, Greece, Malta, and the USA, as well as Switzerland.
IMI facilities Facilities at IMI include a superbly appointed training kitchen and restaurant as well as an accommodation laboratory. Students can be assured that the vocational, operational and managerial skills required for success in the hotel and tourism industry are being taught in the most appropriate environments. Spacious and well-equipped classrooms support other forms of teaching, learning and assessment, which include traditional lectures, live case studies, business development, creative problem solving and computer simulations.
To ensure that the school remains at the forefront of best practice in tourism education, IMI employs independent educational advisors. Through consultancy, regular internships and their own industry advisory board, the Faculty and curriculum remains relevant to the industry’s needs.
Paid Practical Training / Internships In addition to their academic studies, students may undertake a variety of paid internships in Switzerland as well as overseas including the UK and the USA. Excellent industry contacts and an extensive alumni network support our students’ own career development upon completion of the courses. IMI’s mission is the development of the whole student. To this end, in addition to academic studies, the School has a voluntary programme of social events as well as access to facilities for recreation and sport. IMI has an international reputation for offering a warm, caring and holistic educational experience for its students. These core values continue to form the platform on which the Institute’s future expansion strategy is based.
